Roman warriors and gladiators often bore Medusa's image on their shields, believing her snake-haired visage would terrify foes. Yet they misunderstood: men feared not her gaze, but her wisdom. Like many myths, Medusa's tale was twisted by male authors to serve patriarchal ends. The five warriors of this collection all don Medusa's aegis, for they too have suffered similar mythic distortions. Now, they reclaim their narratives by dismantling patriarchal structures, exposing false stories, and forging new, empowering myths from the remnants.
